  • March 8, 2012National Sustainable Agriculture Standard Working Group Prepares Draft Standard for Committee Review
    A narrative draft of the Sustainable Agriculture Standard (LEO-4000) was prepared by the working group who met at Leonardo Academy in Madison, Wisconsin on March 5-7, 2012. The draft standard was significantly refined during the intensive work sessions. The new draft is being finalized for review by the Sustainable Agriculture Standard Committee at its upcoming April meeting in Washington, DC. (MORE)
  • January 25, 2012National Sustainable Agriculture Standard Committee Holds Quarterly Meeting; Spring 2012 Annual Meeting Dates Announced
    On January 17 Leonardo Academy hosted, by webinar, the quarterly meeting of the multi-stakeholder Standard Committee that is developing the Sustainable Agriculture Standard (LEO-4000). The Standard Committee and subcommittees are making good progress on developing a draft of this standard for review at the annual in-person Standard Committee meeting in April 2012. (MORE)

  • November 17, 2011National Sustainable Agriculture Standard Releases New Website at Quarterly Standards Committee Meeting, New Members Announced
    Leonardo Academy hosted the fall quarterly meeting of the multi-stakeholder Sustainable Agriculture Standards Committee by webinar on Friday, October 21. A new website dedicated to the standard development process was also announced at the meeting. The new website www.sustainableagstandard.org was released for public use as part of a new communications platform. It includes social media tools, such as Facebook and Twitter, to aid in getting the word out that the first draft standard is progressing towards completion. (MORE)
  • September 1, 2011National Sustainable Agriculture Standards Committee Drives Development toward Final Phases at Quarterly Meeting, New Member and Further Funding Announced
    Leonardo Academy hosted the first remote quarterly meeting of the multi-stakeholder Sustainable Agriculture Standards Committee on Thursday, August 25. The motion was passed in April by the committee to hold three remote meetings in addition to the annual, in-person meeting to increase the pace of the development process. Standards Committee members and observers discussed via a conference call the results of the current work of identifying sustainability criteria and indicators for the performance-based national standard. The group went on to outline goals for the next phase of drafting sustainability metrics. (MORE)
